If installed as instructed, you can have confidence that your AVCON Enclosure shower kit will withstand high winds. Openings in the enclosure allow wind to pass through, increasing its resistance to wind damage. Of course, there are extreme winds that no structure can withstand. Also, as explained, keep in mind the structural metal frame, which is an integral of the AVCON unit. Being a modular and portable structure, if extreme winds are forecast, such as a hurricane, the unit can be unbolted from its mounted surface and placed within a garage or other building structure.
AVCON Enclosures are specifically designed with components engineered for a variety of climates. Entering its fourth decade in the manufacturing industry, AVCON has participated in and witnessed tremendous advancement in vinyl (plastic) technologies. Our wall panels are made with a specific vinyl. Like all materials and products, there are good, better, and best options. Vinyl is not an exception. AVCON prides itself on using only materials that best meet the needs. To understand the challenge, it is important to realize that plastics are made from precisely measured and formulated ingredients. These are repeatable “recipes”. Each recipe is designed for a particular end use. The variety of plastic “recipes” is almost endless. Just name all the things you know that are made from plastic! Like most items, choosing the best recipe for your end use is a balance between cost and quality. AVCON only uses vinyl best suited for extreme fluctuations in atmospheric conditions, without the price being the driving force.
AVCON Enclosure shower kits are self-supporting and free-standing. They can be attached to your home but do not need to be.
When building a DIY outdoor bathroom, plumbing is crucial. It would be best if you planned for water supply and wastewater disposal. Connect to existing plumbing or consider alternative methods like composting toilets or greywater systems. Follow local plumbing codes and regulations and seek a professional plumber’s guidance.
My unit was installed over a year ago and was fine. It should be an easy installation but instructions needed to be more specific and really could have been more professional. We struggled more than was required to put the unit together. The fabricators should watch someone unfamiliar with the product use the installation instructions to see where improvements can be made.

She listened to our needs and concerns as she helped us design our enclosure and walked us through the installation process. Our enclosure was installed days later! Other companies installation time was 4-6 weeks. The installers were also very professional, completing the installation in about an hour. The enclosure is so sturdy, yet elegant. Dawn at AVCON enclosures was a true pleasure to work with! Very professional, but also just a really nice person. The outside shower enclosure is a must for houses at the Jersey Shore. AVCON installed the modern outdoor shower in one day and had it operational. The only things that I didn't like was the showerhead that was installed. It was meant for a larger unit, so Dawn called over a year after the installation and was kind enough to send me a custom towel rack for the outdoor shower to make things right for me. I thought that was terrific customer service!

Recently purchased the AVCON enclosure with the roof. I had done a lot of research on different shower enclosures and this by far was the best quality. All components are top notch. The price is extremely competitive, but remember you get what you pay for. I installed myself and it went together pretty easily. I do have some construction experience, so if you don’t I suggest having them install for you. On top of a great shower enclosure, the sales and customer service was above and beyond. I was having a little bit of trouble figuring out how to secure to my brick pavers. I called AVCON and the sales rep said someone will call me right back. Well, within 10 minutes one of the executives of AVCON called me back and walked me through what to do. He even gave me his personal cell phone number to call him if I run into any other issues. Who does that??? One other suggestion I have is to purchase the floor. I didn’t do that and I believe it would have been better if I did. Overall great experience. If you are in the market for a shower enclosure, this is the one you want.
